http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1083399 Bug ID: 1083399 Summary: gnome-terminal - failed to hide the menu bar Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.0 Hardware: x86-64 OS: openSUSE Factory Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME Assignee: sckang@suse.com Reporter: wnereiz@kawashiro.org QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de CC: yfjiang@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Leap 15.0 build 139.1 (Same issue found before on Leap 42.3 but had not been fixed) gnome-terminal, right click to call out the context menu, uncheck "Show Menubar". The Menu Bar disappeared as expect. Exit and re-launch gnome-terminal. The menu bar is still there. Looks like dconf key "default-show-menubar" in /org/gnome/terminal/legacy/ has never been changed by unchecking this option. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I am closing this since it looks like nobody is against it :-)
For the usage, please refer to the help document:
https://help.gnome.org/users/gnome-terminal/stable/pref-menubar.html.en [highlight] "To enable the menubar by default in all Terminal windows that you open..."
This method did the trick. But this design is really misleading, I hope it can be improved from upstream. Anyway, thank you! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Some times you need to temporarily toggle the show/hide without saving the preference :-) While maybe it's better to rephrase the "Show Menubar" in the context menu to "Toggle Menubar". -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
