Greppping for metapost/mpost in the dvips package contents also yields no results. Removing metapost from the dependencies of dvips is especially beneficial for the OBS, as metapost has a dependency chain libcairo -> libglvnd -> Mesa-dri -> libllvm*. All referenced fonts 2. A postscript processor 3. A printer Of the 3, only ghostscript is Required. DVI is not an exchange format, and DVI with embedded metapost outside of an processing pipeline is absolute niche. If a user wants a full pipeline with metapost capabilities, there is texlive-collection-metapost.
