[Bug 1092058] New: i915 module freezes (black blank screen) on wakeup after suspend, causes bogus keystrokes on lid shut
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1092058 Bug ID: 1092058 Summary: i915 module freezes (black blank screen) on wakeup after suspend, causes bogus keystrokes on lid shut Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 42.3 Hardware: x86-64 OS: openSUSE 42.3 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org Assignee: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: frerk.meyer@gmx.de QA Contact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 769147 --> http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/attachment.cgi?id=769147&action=edit My Xorg.log.0 I run an up to date openSUSE Leap 42.3 on my T400s. All things worked very well until some update about 1 month ago (04/18 ?). 2 Problems: 1) I use a docking station with an external monitor. Normally the lid is shut but the T400s works anyways. Now when I shut the lid I get the clipboard miniprogram added to the desktop automatically. Then mouse action s and keys are accepted very slowing until the GUI doesn't react anymore. I'm guessing that the close of the lid triggers the output of the clipboard buffers endlessly, cause unknown. When I lift the cover problem goes away. I just have to delete every miniprogram manually. 2) When I put the T400s in suspend mode every works as usual. But when I try to wake it up again, I see a black screen with a mouse cursor, and the system is frozen. No switch to text console possible, no shutdown or suspend, all mouse and key events are ignored. I have to hard reset it every time. Analysis: In dmesg there is a message when I close the lid: [ 79.961099] i915 0000:00:02.0: BAR 6: [??? 0x00000000 flags 0x2] has bogus alignment [ 79.961115] pci 0000:00:1e.0: PCI bridge to [bus 0e] In Xorg.log.0 there is only an error with the IBM trackpoint which I suspect to be unrelated. I tried Kernel Versions 4.4.120-45-default instead of 4.4.126-default , no change I tried kernel boot cmdline parameter "i915.semaphores=1" , no change I'm out of options now. My beloved T400s is almost unusable now due to the updated software. I'm in the process to switch to an T440s, but nevertheless I want to use it sometimes in the future and perhaps others are affected too. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

If this alone doesn't help, please also uninstall drm-kmp-default package and reboot. Does this fix the issue?
Please try this. Thanks. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
