However, packages that provide gtk2 immodules don't follow this change. Yes, without the fix, IM might not be available at all after the fresh installation.
Or, when you uninstall some IM package, the old entry will remain in the cache, and no other IM will be available in the worst case.
This comes out on my 11.4 when trying to uninstall scim and install ibus， then I can‘t type chinese. This bug is such a big trouble for chinese users these days, so we should test this soon. Please elaborate what "not work". Otherwise no one knows whether it's because of the super full-moon or whatever other reason. To be noted: this bug is about nothing but the stale gtk immodule cache. When you install or uninstall the package containing gtk2 immodule, /etc/gtk-2.0/gtk*.immodules files will be updated. Check this on your system. If the file contents are updated per installation / uninstallation, basically *this* bug is fixed. The rest thing is other problems. My problem is described in bug#680430.And it is not the same issue with this bug.
To be noted: this bug is about nothing but the stale gtk immodule cache. When you install or uninstall the package containing gtk2 immodule, /etc/gtk-2.0/gtk*.immodules files will be updated. I think this bug is fixed for me with the updates. Thanks.
