[Bug 976224] New: file input cannot open file select dialog after change file twice
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=976224 Bug ID: 976224 Summary: file input cannot open file select dialog after change file twice Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 42.1 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE Applications Assignee: opensuse-kde-bugs@opensuse.org Reporter: guoyunhebrave@gmail.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:45.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/45.0 Build ID: 2016030500 Steps to reproduce: 1. Open any web page with a file input <input type="file"/> 2. Click the file input and choose a file. 3. Click the file input again and choose another file. 4. Click the file input again. Actual results: When the third time I choose file, the file dialog won't open anymore. Expected results: The file dialog should open whenever users want to change file. Additional Test: I am using KDE desktop. After removed mozilla-kde4-integration package, Firefox uses gtk file dialog and this problem disappeared. So I think this is a bug related to KDE. If mozilla-kde4-integration is a part of openSUSE project, please help to fix this! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

mozilla-kde4-integration is part of openSUSE's firefox packages, not KDE.
Not entirely true. This integration package was written and maintained by someone from the KDE team. Unless the issue is in the patches within Firefox in contrast to the KDE code in mozilla-kde4-integration I consider this to be maintained by someone who actually knows KDE. If this is not possible/wanted I have to drop the whole KDE integration. wolfi@Hygiea:~> osc maintainer mozilla-kde4-integration Defined in package: mozilla:Factory/mozilla-kde4-integration bugowner of mozilla-kde4-integration : llunak maintainer of mozilla-kde4-integration : llunak -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Not entirely true. This integration package was written and maintained by someone from the KDE team.
Maybe, but it's still a problem in Firefox (presumably in its KDE integration patches), not KDE. So the KDE team is supposed to maintain those patches? Thanks for telling, I did not know this until now. I will have a look at it, I planned to anyway... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

(In reply to Wolfgang Rosenauer from comment #2) Maybe, but it's still a problem in Firefox (presumably in its KDE integration patches), not KDE.
That's what I'm not sure about. The API behind it is rather simple and at least it's not obvious why Firefox should stop reaching out to the API after the second time. I have to admit I haven't debugged this one. That's why I said it would be good if someone could start to debug that from the other direction and if the call from Firefox to kmozillahelper is missing then it's another topic, because
So the KDE team is supposed to maintain those patches?
No, the in-tree Firefox patches are somehow maintained by me at best effort. They need changes with every update anyway so that is usually quite ok as you haven't seen me reaching out the KDE team that much about them. But the whole kmozillahelper thing is pure KDE code being called via very simple IPC and I have absolutely no idea about it. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

No, I can still reproduce it. My Firefox version is 49.0.2. What version is yours?
rpm -q MozillaFirefox MozillaFirefox-49.0.2-84.1.x86_64 I'm on 13.2, but I was able to reproduce it earlier. I did change the GTK2 theme in KDE's settings a while ago though (Application Appearance->GTK). I first thought that it may be theme related therefore, but it still works now after changing it back to the former one. Still, can you maybe try to change the theme too? OTOH, I'm using the latest kdelibs4 (4.14.25) from KDE:Applications here, maybe that fixed it (Leap 42.1 only has 4.14.18). I will try to downgrade and see if the bug is back then. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I test with bugzilla.opensuse.org when you upload attachment to a bug.
Sorry, I cannot reproduce it this way any more either. Must be something else then, but my Leap 42.1 VM is pretty much standard. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
