It needs to install additional package "python2-gobject-Gdk" and it works again immediately. It's annoying to search for this package name every time I install a new box and want to use solaar then. Need this with Tumbleweed, Leap 15.0 and 15.1 x86_64. Thanks Ralf -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Second, I suggest to not include solaar in 15.2, because it seems it is discontinued and it does not support power status of new Logitech devises correctly. As far as I know such support requires patches that were added in one of the kernel versions from the 5.x series. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

It is very well working for me, even the older Logitech devices can be monitored for battery power, for multiple devices etc. It has a very nice, great working app in KDE5 working in all flavors of openSUSE etc. It would be really a waste of goodness to drop it. Hello Ralf! I have a number new Logitech devices and the power monitor in solaar does not show anything even close to true values (neither Plasma power monitor). But if it works well with old hardware then I take back what I have said. Sorry! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I haven't seen any problems with Logitech devices over the last years with Solaar. Only the really old receivers with PS2 connectors are not recognized because the kernel is not yet extended for these old ones. Not sure if the ltunify might cause your problems offering somehow similar options but AFAIK has not such a nice KDE5/plasma interface as shown in the screenshots Solaar can offer. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Ralf, the problem is not lack of battery information but the fact that these values are just not true. For my K780 keyboard solaar always shows 90% but the battery is more than a year old so this is not true as (verified on Windows). For my M720 mouse I have random values like 5, 20 or 10 percent. Each time you connect this mouse you got different value. The hope is on the kernel side: see here https://news.softpedia.com/news/linux-kernel-5-2-to-come-with-improved-suppo... So, yes solaar gives you something but are you sure these values make any sense? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I have also MX Vertical but after experiences with the other devices I did not even try to use solaar with it. Sorry, it is not useful here. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1095451 http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1095451#c10 --- Comment #10 from Ralf Czekalla <ralf@czekalla.com> --- Hello Kacpar, these devices usually have a very low battery power consumption and you are true: I also recognized on my devices that it stays on 90% for a long time and then after 1-2 years goes down rapidly in about some days. The reason for this behavior is in the battery characteristics curve. You see this behavior especially with devices which have a very low power consumption and the interior of the battery can keep a very stable equilibrium state of chemical and electrical power. During my chemistry studies I looked deeper into it. Let's see if I can find a wiki page for these batteries characteristics curves. Found one here https://www.mpoweruk.com/performance.htm. The curve falls at the beginning to something like 90% and then stays there for quite some time. The weaker the power consumption, the later the next fall comes and is then much steeper. At least with Solaar I could get a heads-up some days ahead when the battery died finally. This I had in several of my devices. Yes, Solaar is also working on our living room entertainment PC and I use it mostly every day for these Logitech K400* living room keyboard with mouse. I leave kernel 4.12 instantly when I install a new Leap and go for the current stable kernel immediately. This might be the difference. I can only assume Solaar is simply displaying what it gets from the kernel or the receiver or the battery measuring piece in you mouse. In my devices using the newest stable kernel the values were always reliable! Best regards Ralf -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

All these batteries were already separated for bringing them to recycling. I now recognized that they still would serve in these Logitech devices. 50% from Solaar, 2 ones, Voltage 2.60 V 50% from Solaar, 2 ones, Voltage 2.42 V and a really old set of batteries I just dragged deep out of our battery waste basket: 5% from Solaar (warning), 2 ones, Voltage 2.01 V Sorry, I couldn't find a combination of older batteries in the range of 2.30 to 2.10 volts combo to confirm the curve characteristics. All measured in a Logitech K400plus and with a digital volt meter for comparison. Best regards Ralf -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

His verdict: Having Solaar in the system try is quite handy. Though, the reality is, I don't need it all the time in fact, it isn't actively running very often but having it to manage your devices is very handy. It's nice to know that you can manage multiple Unifying receivers with this application. This is easy to use and has a great, well laid out and straight forward interface. I am glad I was recommended to try this application out. It has now been placed high on my list of tools to keep handy. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
