[Bug 1182894] New: [Build 20210227] Grub timeout not set to infinite
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1182894 Bug ID: 1182894 Summary: [Build 20210227] Grub timeout not set to infinite Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: Other URL: https://openqa.opensuse.org/tests/1650777/modules/grub _test/steps/3 OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Upgrade Problems Assignee: screening-team-bugs@suse.de Reporter: dimstar@opensuse.org QA Contact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: openQA Blocker: Yes ## Observation openQA test in scenario opensuse-Tumbleweed-DVD-x86_64-upgrade_Leap_15.0_cryptlvm@uefi fails in [grub_test](https://openqa.opensuse.org/tests/1650777/modules/grub_test/steps/3) Looking at the install steps, during th einstallation/upgrade, the grub boot timeout ash been set to -1 (infinite) - this in order for openQA to have a clearer, non-racy boot. So far this was no problem. Since the YaST Stack upgrade, merged on Feb 26, this no longer works in the upgrade scenarios: the grub menu seems to be hidden away completely and the system booting right up to the OS - the explicit wish to show the boot menu has been ignored. This only seems to be an issue on upgrade scenarions; fresh installs accepted this configuration in the installer ## Test suite description Upgrade scenario with cryptlvm for Leap 15.0. ## Reproducible Fails since (at least) Build [20210223](https://openqa.opensuse.org/tests/1644602) ## Expected result Last good: [20210222](https://openqa.opensuse.org/tests/1642952) (or more recent) ## Further details Always latest result in this scenario: [latest](https://openqa.opensuse.org/tests/latest?arch=x86_64&distri=opensuse&flavor=DVD&machine=uefi&test=upgrade_Leap_15.0_cryptlvm&version=Tumbleweed) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

NOTE: in snapshot 0226 - which was actually the yast change, this was still working, only 0227, where yast2-security and yast2-installation emergency fixes were merged, did this start failing
And as we decided to skip Staging for those two important fixes, it was not seen in staging - but with the diff now in, all stagings are failing on the upgrade test too -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1182894 http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1182894#c4 --- Comment #4 from Dominique Leuenberger <dimstar@opensuse.org> --- The timeout is a bit of a red herring: this already did not work in the past, but as grub was branded, the test module did not realize this. So the actual bug is that the grub2 branding was discarded (despite grub2-branding-openSUSE being installed' and the scriptets, upon re-executing, work as expected) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
