[Bug 694697] New: KDE opens xterm (Alt-F2) in "Documents" folder
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=694697 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=694697#c0 Summary: KDE opens xterm (Alt-F2) in "Documents" folder Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Workspace AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: towo@computer.org QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/534.24 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/11.0.696.65 Safari/534.24 See summary. Searching the web reveals this has been discussed but without solution. One proposal was to change the "Documents" folder which is however not a solution; the intention is to BE ABLE TO CONFIGURE XTERM to start in the $HOME folder. No hint to such configuration could be found. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. KDE: Alt-F2 2. xterm 3. Enter Actual Results: initial working directory $HOME/Dokumente (German version of Documents folder) Expected Results: working directory $HOME Concerning severity: X11 applications have traditionally started in the X11 desktop working directory which would normally be the home directory. If people think that should be changed by default to accomodate modern file system usage, I'm fine with that. However, there needs to be obvious and easy-to-find configuration options to adjust it! -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
