I have recently made an updated of the display driver. -> ATI Catalyst 10.4 -> fglrx 8.723 KDE 4.4.2 from this repo: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Factory:/Desktop/openSU... When I enable Compositing in KDE and start an OpenGL game. I can play the game in good quality. As soon as I finish the game, I return to KDE. KDE apparently tries to restore the screen resolution and even tries to get the control of the Compositing. Then I have got black screen. I can only disable Compositing by ALT + SHIFT + F12 and get back to the desktop. When I enable Compositing again, I have got a black screen again. I can only logout from KDE and afterwards login, then KDE can enable Compositing again. Why can not KDE 4.4.2 force to restore the screen with Compositing in OpenGL mode? Can we solve this issue? When I disable Compositing before I start a OpenGL game, then I can return to KDE and activate Compositing without trouble again. For example, OpenGL games perfectly works with a different desktop environment LXDE. I think, LXDE has not a Compositing, that would collide with OpenGL. Workaround: - Disable Compositing in KDE 4.4.2 - Start a OpenGL game of your choice - When you exit the game, you can start Compositing in KDE again. Exit the game Actual Results: Black screen is the result.
