Manually setting values in the file /sys/devices/virtual/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness works. File /sys/module/video/parameters/brightness_switch_enabled contains Y The workaround from http://www.linlap.com/wiki/hp+elitebook+8540w does not seem to help and apparently, this issue is fixed in Ubuntu 10.10 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Type FN+F9 or FN+F10 2.
