startx is no longer supported ... since more than a decade?
You may want to set suid root bit of /usr/bin/Xorg, if you really still want to use startx, which is not recommended at all!
I am not using startx. I don't use text mode. I just get a blank screen. So I tried to give you as many information as possible. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

From the initial description it looked like you were logging into the Linux console and then ran startx. Which simply no longer works since a long time.

startkde: Starting up... /usr/bin/kdeinit5: Bad address startkde: Could not start kdeinit5. Check your installation. xinit: connection to X server lost Seems you're trying to start KDE. Check Displaymanager settings. Which desktop is configured to start? Check also for an existing ~/.xinitrc file. This is no longer bug report handling. This is consulting! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

You never described what exactly happened. Which desktop have you seleced? GNOME, KDE. Anything else? No desktop at all? Which displaymanager is running (in case you know this)? Is the Xserver crashing, i.e. you get a new login screen? Or do you see a blank screen? Anything else?
From the initial description it looked like you were logging into the Linux console and then ran startx. Which simply no longer works since a long time.
At first reboot, get logging screen with initial user name Type the password Get a blank screen with a little windows X type with a message: "Could not start kdeinit5. Check your installation" So I stopped Xserver from keyboard. Got the logging screen Restart the computer and edit the command line and add "init 3" Log as initial user. Then ran startx . -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
