[Bug 1193894] New: fetchmail 6.4 does not fetch emails from t-online pop3 server any more
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1193894 Bug ID: 1193894 Summary: fetchmail 6.4 does not fetch emails from t-online pop3 server any more Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.2 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network Assignee: screening-team-bugs@suse.de Reporter: dieter.jurzitza@t-online.de QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- After having unpdated fetchmail to the latest version (fetchmail-6.4.22 from 17th of December) fetching my emails from my t-online account stopped working the way it did now for decades. It wants to try to access an impap account (?) though pop3 is configured in ~/.fetchmailrc and /etc/fetchmailrc. The connection is - of course - refused by the securepop - server. Any ideas? I blocked the update for now. Thank you take care Dieter Jurzitza -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Line 41 ... line 45 - reinstall fetchmail-6.3 Line 48 ... End actually fetch email from securepop .... works flawlessly. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Thank you for looking into this, take care Dieter Jurzitza -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Exactly. So the "Auto" does not do what it used to do for decades. This is what I consider a regression. Thank you take care
Dieter
Dear Dieter, after all findings, would you consider updating your configuration to explicitly use 'pop3' protocol instead of 'auto'? It seems 'auto' protocol has been deprecated for quite some time. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1193894 http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1193894#c15 --- Comment #15 from Dieter Jurzitza <dieter.jurzitza@t-online.de> --- Hello David, the only negative impact I can anticipate are users like me, using fetchmail since decades without changing anything and then are stuck with a dysfunctional option. In contrast, the new feature has been rolled out on December 17th - so 4 days ago. Who would since then rely on Auto configuration of mailservers being dysfunctional? And what is beneficial from a non functional Auto configuration? If someone can explain - feedback offline is very much appreciated. Need not prolong this bug thread here. Sorry, this significantly exceeds the capabilities of my imagination :-). But take your time to decide ....
