http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1119326 Bug ID: 1119326 Summary: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20181211 Plasma application window problems Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: x86-64 OS: SUSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE Workspace (Plasma) Assignee: opensuse-kde-bugs@opensuse.org Reporter: mfox@pdvcorp.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:63.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/63.0 Build Identifier: Operating System: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20181211 KDE Plasma Version: 5.14.4 Qt Version: 5.11.2 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.52.0 Kernel Version: 4.19.7-1-default OS Type: 64-bit Processors: 8 × Intel® Core™ i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz Memory: 15.4 GiB of RAM -Launch Konsole Resulting window not drag-able or re-sizeable, mouse click in other windows don't always move keyboard input to other window. -No Konsole icon in task bar after launch Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. After zypper dup on 12/12/18 plasma desktop is broken 2. Reboot, login to plasma desk top, launch Konsole app. 3. Taskbar does not get icons for launched apps. 3. Konsole app is not resizable or dragable and window control icons do no show. (the ones usually at top right of window) 4. Mostly the same for Firefox, except ff is drag-able. Actual Results: Launch Konsole.. Konsole window stuck in top left, not resize-able or hide-able. Keyboard input may be stuck in Konsole after clicking another application window like Firefox. Expected Results: Expect Plasma windows to have control icons in top right, mouse click in window to activate window for keyboard input, drag of window by top to move window, resize by lower right corner to work. None do. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Sounds like kwin has crashed/didn't start. Does it "fix" the problem if you run "kwin_x11" manually? If it crashes, please provide the backtrace. Might be a graphics driver problem though, there hasn't been any change to kwin recently. (but then I don't see any graphics driver related change in the latest snapshot either...) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

And now after reboot things seem to be working as they should.
Hm. I'm afraid there's not much we can do here then, without further evidence what happened or being able to reproduce it. The XCB errors are usually harmless, but even if not they won't really allow to pinpoint the problem anyway. You might run "coredumpctl" to see if a kwin_x11 crash is registered, that would at least show where it crashed. Closing as WORKSFORME for now though, feel free to reopen if it happens again, or you can provide a crash backtrace. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
