[Bug 406600] New: "Windows Domain Membership" Problem
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=406600 Summary: "Windows Domain Membership" Problem Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: x86 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: cal-ken@sonic.net QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: Customer I installed OpenSuSE V11.0 on a machine with 2 hard drives. Linux occupies 3 partitions on one drive and Windows XP Pro occupies 3 NTFS partitions on the other drive. I use a GRUB dual-boot system. I use the GNOME desktop. When I start Linux, no connections to the Windows partitions are evident. I have to start Yast, click on "Windows Domain Membership" and click on the SMB box. This instantly produces and error message. I then go back and uncheck the SMB box. The system then rewrites config. files and says it is disabeling Samba. As soon as the dialog box closes, the Windows partitions show up as "C", "D" and "E" on my desktop. After the Windows partitions are shown, the Linux shutdown menu choices are all "grayed-out". The only way I can shutdown the system is to open a terminal session, switch to super-user and execute the "halt" command. This is 100% repeatable. If I want to see the Windows partitions, I must go to "Windows Domain Membership" and check then uncheck the SMB box each time I boot OpenSuSe and then must use the manual "halt" command when I want to shut the system down. This problem seems related to the bug reported in item 404206. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

To me, this seems to be desktop related: GNOME should recognize present Windows partitions correctly. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
