The kernel is tainted "W" which means there was a warning in the log before that. Can you post what that is? It should be in the output of dmesg or in /var/log/messages and start with "Badness"
Nothing in dmesg or /var/log/messages with "Badness." Here is the dmesg output: http://paste2.org/p/631153 And the /var/log/messages: http://paste2.org/p/631155 -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The latest .31-stable tree is checked into the 11.2 kernel branch, and will be released with the next round of kernel updates.
Indeed, my repo was switched to a tagged release, not on the latest branch. Sorry for that. Lee, could you try a kernel from: ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/kernel/kotd/openSUSE-11.2/ -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Be happy to. Which .rpm should I use? (Excuse my ignorance, just a casual user). You want kernel-default-2.6.31.12-0.0.0.17.bb438b6.i586.rpm
The installer gave this error: preload-kmp-default-1.1_2.6.31.8_0.1-6.9.3.i586 requires kernel-default = 2.6.31.8-0.1.1, but this requirement cannot be provided -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

You try to update your kernel instead of installing the new. Install it via rpm -ivh kernel-default-2.6.3...rpm -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
