If one sets a package in YaST2's software management module to another status the process uses one full cpu core for some seconds – although "check dependencies automatically" is disabled. Hence I wonder what it does, if not checking dependencies and whether it's something useful. Maybe it re-creates the whole list. To reproduce, install some package that is not available in any repo (anymore). Click on rpm-groups in Yast and pick "zzz all" (translated from German). click on the installed column header to get all packages marked with red at the top of the list. Select one of those packages and hit the spacebar. Watch YaST2 eat one full core. De-activate "check dependencies automatically" and do the same thing again. Watch YaST2 still eating one full core. Expected behaviour: 1. be a lot quicker if this is about checking dependencies 2. be a lot quicker when marking a package as "remove/update…" 3. do not check dependencies if that automatism is disabled.
