https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=733278 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=733278#c0 Summary: Network-Manager-Gnome-Vpnc fails after latest security patch: "Did not receive a reply" without even trying to connect Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: ronci.fabio@libero.it QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; it; rv:1.9.2.24) Gecko/20111101 SUSE/3.6.24-0.2.1 Firefox/3.6.24 After installing the latest security patch released for Network Manager, vpn connections and broadband mobile connections no longer work in Gnome. They still work if launched at the command line. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Update Network Manager with the latest patch released via YAST (patch of the 0.8 version) Actual Results: After launching the vpn connection nothing seems to happen, the icon on the system tray doesn't show any activity, and no message appears in /var/log/NetworkManager; after few seconds a popup appears with the error "Did not receive a reply" Expected Results: The icon on the system tray should change aspect indicating the connection is going on, as in the /var/log/NetworkManager logs should appear Broadband mobile connections launched via Network Manager seem to have the same problem, but I didn't investigate further on them -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Gary,
I ran into precisely the same issue as Fabio. I tried the NetworkManager in your branch and it worked greatly. So, I am now back in business.
(In reply to comment #1)
Probably the same root cause of bnc#732279. Could you try the NetworkManager in my branch[*]?

I confirm the package provided by Gary solves the issue. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
