Did you try to run evolution in gdb and see if you can get any trace with it ?
This is a backtrace from gdb (sorry about the layout, can't seem to find debuginfo for evolution). This one was from selecting an email in evolution. Could be ... although both of these are gconf related, and gconf wasn't implicated in the stack trace.
could be related to bnc bug 608563
Actually, I think it might. One of the things noticeable in both is that the call trace is incredibly deep. The default stack limit for users under opensuse is 8MB which might be getting overrun by such a deep trace (resulting in a random SEGV), particularly given the preference of gnome coders for automatic variables ... just to test this theory, I've upped mine to 16MB and am running it now. So far it's done a couple of hours, but I won't be able to draw definitive conclusions until a few days worth of runtime. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Got another one. This has occurred twice and seems to be the reason for the crash immediately on pressing the send button. It looks to be an accessability toolkit issue (none of the other stack traces has manifested after 2 days).
This is a long standing issue. Could you please disable accessibility. Once you disable it, you won't get this particular crash. Upstream bug https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=330728 I would suggest you to report separate bug for each crash, other wise later it will be difficult to track them. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I think the stack size theory is toast. Just got another deep trace, even with the ulimit raised:
