Now on openSUSE Leap 15.6, does such issue still exist? Now mdadm upgrades to 4.3, hope the situation might be better.
Please update to latest version after installation, then continue to verify.
Thank you in advance.
I recently updated to openSUSE Leap 15.6. My work-around to use mdadm-4.3-150600.3.3.2.x86_64 from Leap 15.6 without the following patches does not work anymore: Patch1: 0001-Remove-hardcoded-checkpoint-interval-checking.patch Patch2: 0002-monitor-refactor-checkpoint-update.patch Patch3: 0003-Super-intel-Fix-first-checkpoint-restart.patch Patch4: 0004-Grow-Move-update_tail-assign-to-Grow_reshape.patch Patch6: 0006-util.c-change-devnm-to-const-in-mdmon-functions.patch Patch7: 0007-Wait-for-mdmon-when-it-is-stared-via-systemd.patch Patch1003: 1003-mdadm-treat-the-Dell-softraid-array-as-local-array.patch Patch1005: 1005-mdadm-enable-Intel-Alderlake-RSTe-configuration.patch
After reboot my RAID5 will sync for several hours.
I try to use the original mdadm-4.3-150600.3.3.2.x86_64 from Leap 15.6 (with all patches activated) soon.
Thank you so much for the information. It seems recently mdadm/md don't fix the issue indeed. Can I ask your favor to offer me the detailed command lines to create and reproduce the situation you encounter currently? If I can reproduce the similar behavior as you experienced, it will be much easier for me to debug and communicate with upstream developers. Thank you in advance.
