[Bug 902823] New: zypper fails at refreshing certain repositories: valid metadata not found
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=902823 Bug ID: 902823 Summary: zypper fails at refreshing certain repositories: valid metadata not found Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Factory Version: 201410* Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem Assignee: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: lbeltrame@kde.org QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- In recent Factory, some repos will not be downloadable through zypper. When trying to refresh these, the error displayed is "Valid metadata not found at specified URL" However, using YaST to refresh the repositories bypasses this issue. This problem does not affect all repositories: the ones I have experienced having this issue are: - KDE:Unstable:Frameworks - KDE:Unstable:Extra I can reproduce this issue 100% of times on three separate Factory installs. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

The next step after
giskard(19104) [zypp::KeyRing] KeyRing.cc(getData):154 Found keys: { giskard(19104) [zypp::KeyRing] KeyRing.cc(getData):154 [2E85BAEE9EBD09C4-5040cc8f] [KDE:Unstable OBS Project <KDE:Unstable@build.opensuse.org>] [4A3E075626347342E1A3F2572E85BAEE9EBD09C4] [T TL 12] giskard(19104) [zypp::KeyRing] KeyRing.cc(getData):154 }
would have been to execute "'/usr/bin/gpg2' '--verify' ...", but some exception happened before. It's not reproduceable for me, nor is there some hint in the log snippet. @Luca: Could you please attache the complete log of the above command. If you have zypper-log installed, simply run 'zypper-log 19104' (or 'zypper-log -r 1 19104' if the og already rotated). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I've also noticed something, though. If I set locale to C (I run it_IT.UTF-8) the error does *not* occur at all. I suspect another bug like bnc 899603. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=902823 --- Comment #5 from Luca Beltrame <lbeltrame@kde.org> --- I also add that with the currently-available but unpublished version of zypper, libzypp and libsolv-tools (grabbed through osc getbinaries from Factory) this issue does not occur at all. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=902823 Luca Beltrame <lbeltrame@kde.org> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|NEW |RESOLVED Resolution|--- |FIXED --- Comment #6 from Luca Beltrame <lbeltrame@kde.org> --- On the latest Factory updates, this does not occur anymore. I'm guessing this had to do with incorrect translation strings mentioned in the earlier bug (the invalid repos had their keys expiring). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=902823 --- Comment #7 from Michael Andres <ma@suse.com> --- Thanks for the info, Luca. The expire warning was indeed one of the affected strings:
#: src/callbacks/keyring.h:75 msgid "The gpg key signing file '%1%' will expire in %2% day." msgid_plural "The gpg key signing file '%1%' will expire in %2% days."
