[Bug 1206769] New: post install prime-select issues.
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1206769 Bug ID: 1206769 Summary: post install prime-select issues. Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: x86-64 OS: openSUSE Tumbleweed Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X11 3rd Party Driver Assignee: gfx-bugs@suse.de Reporter: ozgurarslln@gmail.com QA Contact: sndirsch@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- First, let's write the following commands in order. sudo zypper --gpg-auto-import-keys addrepo --refresh https://download.nvidia.com/opensuse/tumbleweed NVIDIA sudo zypper ref sudo zypper in -y -l nvidia-glG06 x11-video-nvidiaG06 After installing, let's type sudo prime-select offload-set intel and sudo prime-select offload when I reboot a _ flashes and the mouse cursor appears. I solved the problem weird but it doesn't always work. I started it with init level 4 then wrote prime-select intel2. I restarted and started with init level4 again, then I typed startx. then after working i get intel. I am using an RTX 3050 Mobile and an Intel i7(Mobile) (11800H)11 generation processor. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Unfortunately it depends on your desktop/displaymanager where you can find it. :-( Probably either /var/log/Xorg.0.log or ~/.local/share/xorg/Xorg.0.log. Probably you need a reset of the configuration first. sudo prime-select unset -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I don't think you need this extra
sudo prime-select offload-set intel
This should be the default anyway (using "modeset" driver and not "intel" if you specify "intel2" here; confusing I know)
Could you provide a X logfile when you run into this issue? Unfortunately it depends on your desktop/displaymanager where you can find it. :-( Probably either /var/log/Xorg.0.log or ~/.local/share/xorg/Xorg.0.log. Probably you need a reset of the configuration first.
sudo prime-select unset
The `unset` thing really worked. But when I switch intel(prime-select intel), nvidia-smi still works normally shouldn't it give an error? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

It seems the nvidia modules are still loaded then (check with 'lsmod|grep nvidia). Are you sure you're already in "intel" mode? Check with suse prime-select get-current Have you already restarted your desktop after switching to "intel" mode? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
