[Bug 867981] New: locate ignores /etc/sysconfig/locate settings
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=867981 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=867981#c0 Summary: locate ignores /etc/sysconfig/locate settings Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 13.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: ma@suse.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- I carefully configured UPDATEDB_PRUNEPATHS= in /etc/sysconfig/locate not to include irrelevant and private data when running updatedb. After updating to 13.1 findutils-locate was replaced by the new mlocate package, which ignores the settings in /etc/sysconfig/locate. Now all garbage gets collected and pubished in updatedb. :( If the distro is eager to switch from findutils-locate to mlocate, then it should care about the users settings. IMO a location like /etc/sysconfig/locate was invented to store the user settings independent from the actual implementation (locate/mlocate). Now there is a /etc/updatedb.conf too, and no one knows what's actually used. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
