http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=849816 http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=849816#c4 --- Comment #4 from Egbert Eich <eich@suse.com> --- (In reply to Michael Meeks from comment #3)
Hey Egbert; long time no talk; this one is effectively obsolete I suspect.
As an aside; my X situation has got worse, to the point that whatever Xorg that systemd runs in 13.2 fails on start, and while I can persuade X to work when run from from 'startx' - I can only do that as root - and then GNOME fails (after showing a nice graphical display to tantelize me with) - so ... everything horked; -)
Michael, this sounds really bad. I'm sure it is debuggable ;) - startx only works as root as the SUID bit isn't set any more. - I suspect he culprit to be gdm, you may want to edit /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager to select a different one - try and start with xdm - even though it may not have a look which is very appealing to you. However, before you do so, you may want to collect the Xorg.0.log and Xorg.0.log.old files, open a new bug(*) and attach them. - It may be gone with Leap, however if you will stay with 13.2 for a while I'd rather debug this with you than with someone with little experience ;) (*) you may have done so already and I haven't seen it if so please kindly point me to it. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
