[Bug 1091828] New: Better integration of suse-prime into openSUSE distribution
http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1091828 Bug ID: 1091828 Summary: Better integration of suse-prime into openSUSE distribution Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE.org Version: unspecified Hardware: x86-64 OS: openSUSE Factory Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: 3rd party software Assignee: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: sndirsch@suse.com QA Contact: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Just had a look into suse-prime package on our buildservice. Looks interesting! 1. For better integration I would like to add the snippet to /etc/X11/xdm/Xsetup according to the README.md file. 2. Also I believe it would be good to save the status by prime-select, whether one has currently run the script with Intel or NVIDIA parameter. Since then an update of the NVIDIA driver package could run prime-select at the end of the installation accordingly. Otherwise the configuration could be broken after an update of the package without manually running the prime-select script afterwards again. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

With NVIDIA being primary GPU, both GPUs active and using 'prime-select intel' after running
xrandr --setprovideroutputsource modesetting NVIDIA-0
result is: ...
If it can be done manually, it should have been done automatically by the patch. So something seems to be wrong with it...
After running 'prime-select nvidia' I observe a blank screen.
The prime-select script copies the /etc/prime/xorg.conf into /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/90-nvidia.conf (and changes the PCI ID inside). The /etc/prime/xorg.conf contains "Device" section with the "intel" driver. Maybe it should be "modesetting" nowadays? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Ok. Could be related to "nvidia". Need to try also with "nouveau" driver.

Tried this already. No change. But I'm not sure I fully understand when one should use this option. I mean which GPU should be the primary one configured in Firmware then? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
