[Bug 1190847] New: gparted shows suse-specific "type" flag
https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1190847 Bug ID: 1190847 Summary: gparted shows suse-specific "type" flag Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem Assignee: screening-team-bugs@suse.de Reporter: aschnell@suse.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- gparted shows the suse-specific "type" flag for partitions of an MS-DOS label. Trying to unset the flag results in an error popup followed by a crash. The problem does not happen when installing upstream (lib)parted. So likely the "type" patch for our parted should be improved. The "type" flag also does not behave like the other flags. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1190847 https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1190847#c1 --- Comment #1 from Arvin Schnell <aschnell@suse.com> --- With the new upstream JSON output of parted we could include the information there without breaking anything. Setting the type could be done with an extra command. But that needs a new update release of parted so will take time. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

So with a transitional period the "type" flag could be removed. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

So the replacement for the type flag can finally be portable: 'set NUM type 0x99' turns into 'type NUM 0x99' And the value can be see in the new JSON output. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
