[Bug 998919] New: NetworkManager applet shouldn't show if network managed by Wicked
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=998919 Bug ID: 998919 Summary: NetworkManager applet shouldn't show if network managed by Wicked Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Xfce Assignee: bnc-team-xfce@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: mhitza@gmail.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- On a fresh Tumbleweed install with XFCE, NetworkManager shows up in the panel notification area. As a new openSUSE user, unaware of Wicked, this confused me as I had an active network connection (of course NetworkManager is unaware of that connection and showed no active connections). I think it would be better if the nm-applet would be disabled on a default install. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

The choice of wicked vs NetworkManager is done by YaST depending on the Hardware type, and has nothing to do with XFCE. nm-applet could just not show the icon if NetworkManager is not running, but that's something you would need to issue upstream at https://wiki.gnome.org/Projects/NetworkManager So I'm closing this as "wontfix", even though it really is more like a "cantfix" :-) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
