https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=394351 Summary: Beta3P boot crashes at mmc0 init with card mounted Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Beta 3plus Platform: Other OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Booting AssignedTo: jsrain@novell.com ReportedBy: stefan.l.arndt@gmx.net QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- On my machine (ACER 8920) boot does not work with a mmc card mounted. The Card itself is readable with MS Vista. It stops with the following lines: ACPCI: PCI Interrupt 00000 ????? -> GSI->16 IRQ 16 mmc0: SDHCI at 0xfc0000 irq16 DMA ACPI: Sleep button (CM)(SLPD) mmc0: Got command interrupt 0x00040000 even ????? input: LIDSWITCH ?????? mmc0: error -22 whilst initiaqlizing SDIO card ACPCI: PCI Interrupt 00000 ????? -> GSI->16 IRQ 16 The above line is the last one. Removing the card fixes the problem. Question marks reflect that I do not know what was here. In this case we are dealing with two bugs really.
1. The crash if you boot with a card
Maybe order of loaded modules? Isn't the driver contained in your initrd? That is why blacklisting wouldn't work. Please attach your initrd contents: zcat /boot/initrd-`uname -r` |cpio -t Could you output lsmod from init=/bin/bash and from normal boot to compare which modules are innocent (are loaded from initrd) and suspected (loaded later). [you'll need to mount /proc again, it's read from /proc/modules]
2. The reader doesn't work if you boot without card
The PCI subsystem doesn't know about the device, so this is "expectable". What's the problem here is why the device won't appear if he plugs the card in. I guess this device (its bridge) is PCI-e hotpluggable. Could you post lspci -vvxxxx from init=/bin/bash to see even pci-e extended conf space (card inserted)? Just in case, could you normally boot without the card, modprobe all of /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/drivers/pci/hotplug/* and plug the card in? Does lspci contain the device? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

(I think you encounter the same problem on one of you processors, while another one is still able to handle e.g. mouse interrupts.) Oliver, can you handle it? It may help if you could switch to console, switch logging console to your current tty with high loglevel (klogconsole -l 7 -r 0) evoke the lockup behavior and make a snapshot. Alternatively, if nothing appears during the lockup (not even after 120 secs of soft lockup counter), press sysrq-w.
