[Bug 474196] New: KDE4.2 / Qt 4.5: keyboard stops working in KDE
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=474196 Summary: KDE4.2 / Qt 4.5: keyboard stops working in KDE Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: unspecified Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Workspace AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: bugzilla@go4more.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Konqueror/4.2; Linux; de, en-US, en) KHTML/4.2.0 (like Gecko) SUSE Bug reports concerns the "Factory"-repos, also for KDE4.2: /repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Factory:/Desktop/openSUSE_Factory /repositories/KDE:/Qt45/openSUSE_Factory/ I recently changed the Qt-version from 4.4 to 4.5RC, as on the KDE mailing list this switch was announced for KDE4.2 in factory. I don't know if the problem is related, as I did a complete update then. However, now my USB keyboard does no longer work, as soon as KDE is started. It works during the boot process, however, and it works - even in KDE - if starting in runlevel 3 and doing a "init 5" only after the system has booted. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Does another (non-USB) keyboard work? If you start another session from Kickoff (to get back to KDM), not KDE 4, does it work there? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

No, as I can't even switch to a console with CTRL+ALT+Fx. No magic sysreq keys, either. 2. Unfortunately, I don't have a PS/2-keyboard anymore 3. I cannot check, as currently factory packages seem to have messed up my installation completely (kdm doesn't even start, I only can start sessions with "autologin"). I just downgraded to Qt 4.4, as Qt 4.5 doesn't seem to be supported for KDE4.2 any more. This rendered my KDE4 unbootable ("cannot start kdeinit4"), however, even here the keyboard did no longer work. Concerning KDE4, Factory seems to be in some mess right now :-/ Maybe related: http://forum.ubuntuusers.de/topic/nach-update-auf-4.2-tastatur-funktioniert-... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Does the problem stay if you use something else than KDE (Xfce, GNOME) ? Does the problem stay if you disable the 'kdb' service in Yast in System->System services(runlevel) ? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

However, with the most recent update it has mysteriously disappeared. So we can probably close this bug. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
