https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=269048 Summary: Olaf Kirch's traceroute: ICMP option feature request Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Alpha 3 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: s.handgraaf@xs4all.nl QAContact: qa@suse.de SUSE is shiped with Olaf Kirch traceroute. A complete rewrite of a previous traceroute tool. Unfortunately, since the older software was dropped years ago in favor of this tracerout also the ICMP traceroute option was not available anymore in the distributions. I dont know why the Olaf Kirch version has no ICMP option but it has been concidered a serious tracerouting option for years. Mostly since traceroute via ICMP is usually the next option to work if normal traceroute fails. For this, many operating systems provide a traceroute tool with this option. Hereby the request to implement the ICMP option into the Olaf Kirch traceroute tool. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
