I don't know if this would help or if I must enter a new bug but I have a
Radeon X300 and I had a big problem that I solved with help from a forum
(alionet).
The ATI repositry for Yast distibute the release 8.41.7 from fglrx driver. On
ATI website they say this about this release
---
Linux Proprietary Driver 8.41.7 Release: x86 and x86_64 variants
NEW FEATURES: (1) Support for consumer desktop Radeon HD 2400, 2600 and 2900.
(2) New OpenGL driver with improved performance.
ISSUES RESOLVED: (1) Fixed TV-Out adjustments in the Control Center on X1K
products.
WARNING: (1) Workstation hardware is not supported by this driver release.
(2) This driver release is not recommended for production use on ATI Radeon
X1900 series of products and lower. Using this driver on any of these products
may result in stability issues. AMD recommends using the AMD Proprietary Linux
driver version 8.40.4.
---
And on the site they propose to download the other version (8.40.4). With
8.41.7 I couldn't launch Xgl and so on, I had strange "zebrapads" on the
leftdown corner of my screen, etc.
To solve it I installed fglrx 8.40.4 by hand, creating a package by hand for
.. opensuse 10.2 (this version is older than 10.3), I set it up and it worked.
So I think this was a big mistake to propose the version 8.41.7 as "automatic
install" for everyone.
I think this could be the problem for a card as Radeon Mobile 9000 (comment
#23) but Lars doesn't say which card he's using.
