https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=693914 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=693914#c0 Summary: systemd/init does not start login shells on vt1-6 ASAP (or not at all) Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Factory Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: cobexer@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:2.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0.1 systemd/init should start terminals on vt1-6 as soon as possible. currently those terminals are either started as the very last things (in case of init i think) or not at all(systemd) i just recently had a machine which nscd or ntpd? i don't remember would not return to init an thus blocked the boot, and of course vt2-6 did not have terminals yet so there was not fu** way to get the machine to continue boot. .. reboot in runlevel 2 or so.. but what if such a service also starts in that runlevel? then there would have been no way to boot that machine. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. boot 2. 3. Actual Results: not have terminals ready until very late during the boot process Expected Results: as soon as possible there should be terminals on all vt's -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
