What happend? The first part was no problem with that new images-feature - but when it came to the rpms, some of them did not pass the signature check of the rpms. The point is is there a check for the images, too? Perhaps that part of the disk was okay as the rest of the rpms were, but if not, there is corrupted data on the hard drive. A check (perhaps by comparing with MD5) should be implemented for security reasons if it does not exist yet.
