http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=613822 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=613822#c0 Summary: Make YaST Software management module options stick across sessions Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Factory Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: badshah400@gmail.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-GB; rv:1.9.1.9) Gecko/20100317 SUSE/3.5.9-0.1.1 Firefox/3.5.9 Recent YaST interfaces for the software management module introduced the options of "Allow vendor change" and "Clean-up dependencies when done" from the menu-bar. However the selections made here do not stay across sessions. Which means, if I select "Allow vendor change" from the menu, then vendor updates are indeed allowed during the current session of software management only. Once I close the module and start it up again, it defaults to being unselected, as a result hiding available updates from different vendors again. Ditto for the setting "Clean-up dependencies when done". A user who would check this in the menu, would do so only because he is comfortable with both these mode of operations. He would then expect these settings to stick, instead of having to change them every time he launches the Software Management module. Therefore, I suggest to make the status of these options sticky across sessions. The same reasoning would apply also to the options "Show debug/devel packages" but these setting are rarely changed by users so it is not that high in importance I guess. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Start YaST Software Management module, and make changes to the selections "Allow vendor change"/"Cleanup dependencies when done". 2.Hit, apply; close the module and start it again. 3.Check the status of these menu items Actual Results: They have reverted back to default behaviour which is to be unchecked. Expected Results: To remember the setting chosen -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
