Update: added couple of lines to resolv.conf and DNS is up and working. Connectivity restored!
Problem still remains though. Both Yast and NetworkManager are not inserting the DNS server settings from the gui into the file /etc/resolv.conf. So if I configure the network settings in Yast to use ifup connection or if I configure NetworkManager on the taskbar, neither DNS settings find their way into /etc/resolv.conf.
So it's the DNS issue, first we should check if it get from DHCP Server, then check if it was wrote into the /etc/resolv.conf.
$ kill -9 `pgrep NetworkMananger` $ rm /etc/resolv.conf $ NetworkManager --no-daemon
After connect successfully you could view some infomation look like 'address 147.2.207.22' and 'nameserver 8.8.8.8', could you look the 'nameserver' keyword? If it's ok, we get the DNS from the DHCP server.
My setup is not using DHCP, static IP entered via the gui. Have to enter the DNS servers into /etc/resolv.conf manually, entering them via the gui doesn't seem to work. Thinking I just did a bad install, I tried a complete reinstall of the Beta 1 DVD and again I found myself having to go into /etc/resolv.conf and manually enter the DNS parameters. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
