--- Comment #9 from Robert Simai 2007-10-16 05:41:40 MST ---
I did not load sensors modules or anything else actively.
I unloaded the modules from your list without problems and checked they are
gone. I monitored the temperature and state and put some load on the machine.
BTW, I tried this with 0 (default) and 2 in /proc/acpi/processor/CPU/throttling
The machine shut down, same behavior as before.
But there was an interesting observation: Temperature increases until it
reaches 90°C, it switches to PASSIVE and the CPU is throttled from 1700000 to
1200000. Once it stayed in this state even if temperature went down to ~65°C,
then I needed to take away the load so that PASSIVE switches off. Most often
PASSIVE switches off already at ~85°C. If the latter happens, temperature
starts to swing around 90°C for a while and the system reproducibly goes up
beyond 93°C and shuts down.
FYI: I also put the modules from Comment #8 to /etc/init.d/blacklist, hwmon and
thinkpad_acpi were loaded anyway.
It really seems to be a much too small hysteresis 89-93°C for the thermal
design of this laptop so I'm looking forward to have a possibility to set the
trip_points again, in whatever way.
Let me know if there's anything else I should test.
