http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=563872 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=563872#c0 Summary: KDE Partitioner needed for dual-booting Linux with Ext4 and Windows Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Applications AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: nzkiwi@mte.biglobe.ne.jp QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.5) Gecko/20091102 Firefox/3.5.5 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) (This is more of a desired enhancement than a bug). To install Windows after LINUX in a dual-boot PC, you need to hide any LINUX partitions that come before the desired Windows install partition (i.e. tag the desired Windows install primary partition as active), and also (preferably) tag the desired Windows install partition as NTFS. The partitioner that comes with OpenSuSE 11.2 will create unformatted partitions tagged as NTFS, and it can set the boot partition active (if you want to keep the MBA intact) -- though there's no apparent way of manually setting a user-specified partition active. It seems that the only partitioner that both (1) understands Ext4 and (2) allows the user to manually set the desired boot partition active, or to hide any LINUX partitions that come before the Windows partition (in order to install Windows after LINUX) is KDE Partition Manager (which does not seem to be a part of OpenSuSE). QTPartED allows you to manually set a desired partition active [so you can hide LINUX primary (e.g. boot) partitions that come before the Windows partition that way], but it doesn't understand Ext4.
