https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=240865 Summary: Wlan devicenumber eth 0 increasing by 1 - currently I have an eth33 Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: 32bit OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Mobile Devices AssignedTo: behlert@novell.com ReportedBy: e.auler@gmx.de QAContact: qa@suse.de HI The problem: With every boot the devicenumber of the wlan-device (typ. eth1) is increasing by 1 - currently I have an eth44. There is no problem with normal work, but I don't think it is intended to do so. And what will happen if eth255 is reached? The question: Is there a possibility to stop the devicenumber from counting? If not, can someone tell me, if there will be a problem when eth255 is reached? The problem occured since I switched from SuSE 10.0 to open SuSE 10.2. I send you boot.msg and wlanconfig, I highlighted with >>>>>>>> Thanks in advance for your answer Eike e.auler@gmx.de WLANCONFIG: BOOTPROTO='static' BROADCAST='' ETHTOOL_OPTIONS='' IFPLUGD_PRIORITY='10' IPADDR='192.168.0.50' MTU='' NAME='Z-Com XG-600 and clones Wireless Adapter' NETMASK='255.255.255.0' NETWORK='' REMOTE_IPADDR='' STARTMODE='ifplugd' UNIQUE='KwIh.Z7e7L9Q6ex5' USERCONTROL='yes' WIRELESS_AP='' WIRELESS_AUTH_MODE='sharedkey' WIRELESS_BITRATE='auto' WIRELESS_CA_CERT='' WIRELESS_CHANNEL='' WIRELESS_CLIENT_CERT='' WIRELESS_CLIENT_KEY='' WIRELESS_CLIENT_KEY_PASSWORD='' WIRELESS_DEFAULT_KEY='0' WIRELESS_EAP_AUTH='' WIRELESS_EAP_MODE='' WIRELESS_ESSID='wertzu' WIRELESS_FREQUENCY='' WIRELESS_KEY='' WIRELESS_KEY_0='s:xyzxyzxyzxyz' WIRELESS_KEY_1='' WIRELESS_KEY_2='' WIRELESS_KEY_3='' WIRELESS_KEY_LENGTH='128' WIRELESS_MODE='Managed' WIRELESS_NICK='' WIRELESS_NWID='' WIRELESS_PEAP_VERSION='' WIRELESS_POWER='yes' WIRELESS_WPA_ANONID='' WIRELESS_WPA_IDENTITY='' WIRELESS_WPA_PASSWORD='' WIRELESS_WPA_PSK='' _nm_name='bus-pci-0000:03:06.0' boot.msg: Inspecting /boot/System.map-2.6.18.2-34-default Loaded 23374 symbols from /boot/System.map-2.6.18.2-34-default.
