https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=394575 Summary: cannot install XEN guest - network issue Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Factory Platform: 32bit OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Xen AssignedTo: cgriffin@novell.com ReportedBy: roland.kletzing@materna.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- i`m trying to install xen guest on opensuse factory. since it seems that i cannot use opensuse 11 beta3 cd for installation, i tried network based setup, but after struggling for more than 2 hours, it seems i don`t get this working. kernel for xen is kernel-xen-2.6.25.4-6 i`m using vm-install for setup and set http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/SL-OSS-factory/inst-source/ as installation source. i configured paravirtualized nic for xen guest. guest boots up fine, and tells it's sending dhcp request - but it seems it the i p from dhcp server isn`t assigned inside guest or whatever... i can see (tcpdump) dhcp request from xen guest on vif, on peth0 and on eth0 - i can see dhcp reply from internet-router on those interfaces, too - but it either doesn`t seem to get assigned inside guest or guest`s virtual nic having problems. after some timeout, guest installation drops to minimal setup menu (ncurses based) unfortunately i cannot get a shell there, but i also tried manually setup of ip adress, but that also doesn`t seem to work. i see arp request from guest and arp reply from host, but gest has communication problems and won`t start setup. pinging the guest is giving timeout. is this a known issure ? any hints how to analyze ? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
