i confirm this, using 11.0 final with it shipped kernel 2.6.25.5-1.1-pae on my
HP Evo 520 with Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG.
First time i turned on this laptop & press the wireless button i get this
messages in my log:

same as Michael Meeks, executing:
modprobe -r iwl3945
modprobe iwl3945
make my wireless come to live, but the wireless button light still turned off.
FYI, this didn't happens in 10.3
