Thanks for your response Takashi :)
Ok, first up when shutting down the sound it fails due to numerous modules
being in use. It requires the user to shut it down twice to actually get a
shutdown. This is with init 3 being done beforehand and root in console only.
Perhaps a new bug?
Now in the second case of driver defaults, the analog/digital toggle is off. I
therefore get no sound on my analog speakers when using play on a wav file. If
I go into alsamixer and toggle the analog/digital sound is played back as
expected in aplay.
After moving my asound.state to another name, after doing all this in the
second case no etc/asound.state file is written.
Moving onto the third case you asked for, its all the same. Same wrong toggle
by default and no sound until it is toggled.
I appreciate that sound users will use digital out instead of analog, but I
would suspect the majority use analog speakers. Perhaps the ultimate solution
is to query the user or in some way better handle what setup they have so they
have a hassle free experience with OpenSuse audio.
