OK ... after some deep debugging, that is sorting cause and effects in the
right order, I found the reason *why* the command
xrandr --setprovideroutputsource modesetting NVIDIA-0
does not work. The latest driver modesetting has a broken fix included, that is
that the patch n_RandR-Disable-rotation-for-GPU-screens.patch in
openSUSE:Leap:42.1:Update/xorg-x11-server.4594 does break the data flow between
the source NVIDIA-0
