My opinion is even generate too much heat under linux is not a justification to
make the machine power down that easily. The *active* cooling should be driven
by all means to prevent that to happen or he needs to clean up his fan or
thermal modules. In windows people is also possible to perform lots of cpu
intense tasks and generate as much heat as in linux.
Anyway we need Sankar's help to compare powertop in OK and NG kernels, and
monitoring the fan speed to know who to blame .. Of course bisecting to know
the offending commit is much appreciated.
