https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=228317 Summary: YaST needs support for dm-raid volumes Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: unspecified Platform: All OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: john_hull@dell.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com YaST does not currently seem to have support for software RAID disk formats supported by dm-raid. At install time, YaST should scan the disks and look for RAID formats supported by device mapper RAID. If found, YaST should only expose the RAID container (/dev/mapper/<volume>) as specified in the RAID metadata, rather than the underlying disk devices (sda and sdb). Fedora Core 6 currently does a very good job with this. As an example, several Dell desktop systems have Intel SATA controllers, with an option ROM that can be used to configure the disks into a software RAID volume using Intel's metadata format. After configuring the RAID volume, booting to FC6 media and viewing the disks partitions with disk druid shows that only the device mapper volume is exposed, and not the underlying disk devices. Similar functionality in openSUSE would be valuable. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
