--- Comment #8 from Vlastimil Babka
Besides that, there are clearly two problems here:
1) physnode_map should not have been filled for node 1 - it's the direct cause of this bug.
Could you please test the desktop kernel from here: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/vbabka/openSUSE_13.1/i686/ - post dmesg after booting (the first part that fits in bugzilla is enough, or better use an attachment) - trigger compaction by doing as root: echo 1 > /proc/sys/vm/compact_memory it shouldn't crash anymore
2) why wasn't NODE_DATA for node 1 allocated? Losing access to 6GB of memory because 8192 bytes could not be allocated is not exactly the best tradeoff I can imagine.
I found an upstream commit that should fix this and I will backport it to opensuse kernel. But it also does not guarantee that node data will be allocated, so fix for 1) should still be tested and then I will send it upstream. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
