So I could install the OS in my laptop. But after installation from the Live CD, on first boot the erratic mouse behavior did occur and only when I entered the i8042.nomux i8042.reset kernel command line parameter on second boot did the problem got completely mitigated. Unlike Carlos, I didn't experience any annoying, random, delay to get the cursor moving after you start scratching the touch pad.
