http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1180617 Bug ID: 1180617 Summary: Better automatic server selection for higher download speeds Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: libzypp Assignee: zypp-maintainers@suse.de Reporter: claudius.ellsel@live.de QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- On Tumbleweed when using `sudo zypper dup` I get download speeds around 4 MiB/s. While that might be ok for many internet connections, mine is capable of around 20 MiB/s and I'd like to make use of that so upgrading the system takes less time. I learned that the default download.opensuse.org server is doing the selection of a mirror. I suggest to also take things like download speed into consideration, not only proximity or ping. Probably filed under the wrong component, but I did not find a better one. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
