--- Comment #13 from Scott Couston 2013-11-12 14:31:15 EST ---
This issue is fixed in 12.3. The delay in boot where the expected NFS client to
be available has been reduced to about 3-4 seconds. There has also been a
change in retrospectively mounting NFS Drives that weren’t available at the
time of boot.
This is easily see in Dolphin where a NFS client is set as a place. If the NFs
Server was not available at boot time to be mounted by the equal NFS client; I
can click on the defined place in Dolphin and the NFS drive is instantly
mounted.
In short just about everything I requested to be changed in respect to timeouts
and changes to the Kernel for dynamic mounting of NFS drives not available at
time of boot; has been done, completed and my thanks to the kernel guys.
The concept of not having a stable networked desktop groups is ludicrous in
this day and age and somewhere someone thought the same.
Not to labour the point and apologies for the comparison; but Windows for
Work-groups v3.10-3.11, had a sophisticated Networking Client Server
association in Native product that worked, was released around 1971.
Again thats to whoever fixed this for the good of the products reputation
