From a windows XP SP2 machine, am unable to join the machine to the OpenSuSE 11.1 PDC domain.
Authentication seems to work correctly, but the machine account is not created in LDAP. --- snippet of log.smb --- [2009/07/26 12:03:36, 2] lib/smbldap.c:smbldap_open_connection(796) smbldap_open_connection: connection opened [2009/07/26 12:03:36, 2] passdb/pdb_ldap.c:init_sam_from_ldap(571) init_sam_from_ldap: Entry found for user: root [2009/07/26 12:03:36, 2] auth/auth.c:check_ntlm_password(308) check_ntlm_password: authentication for user [root] -> [root] -> [root] succeeded ---------------------------- I am able to create the machine account with the command: ldapsmb -a --wks northfarthing$ and then I can join the XP machine to the domain. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Attempt to join domain from XP client. Actual Results: This generates an error (on the XP client) "The following error occurred attempting to join the domain "IMPERIUM": The user name could not be found. <OK> Expected Results: Should be able to join the domain.
