It took many tries before I determined that the PC was not locking up before it finally started the GUI. 2-15.0 & 15.1 installation fail to configure NIC 3-NET installation fails to find any online repos 4-Plasma NetworkManager repeatedly notifies of failed connection 5-YaST cannot configure network 6-Shutdown/reboot is blocked by network/firewalld stop failure Possible upstream bug (is still open): https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=84881 [ASRock N68-VGS3 FX with onboard Gigabit LAN PHY RTL8211CL] Networking and ACPI conflicts Tried without apparent improvement: acpi=strict acpi=rsdt acpi=noirq acpi=off noapic Similar behaviors from Linuxmint 19.1 and TW20190701.
