--- Comment #10 from Sean McNally

Ok, thanks for the feedback. This isolates the openSUSE patch set and identifies a defect in the upstream kernel. Please file a report with the upstream kernel bug tracker at bugzilla.kernel.org linking to this one.
We can close this once that report is resolved.
On 11.3 standard from DVD, 11.4 MS5 (updated to MS6) and 11. MS5 (fresh from DVD), all kernels post 2.6.36-rc2-2.2 boot into black screen. The kernels include
2.6.38-rc3-3.3, -rc3-3.4, -rc3-4.1, and -rc4-r.5
kernel types desktop and vanilla. No testing has been done on -default or -pae kernels,
Kernel 2.6.38-rc2 continues to boot satisfactorily.
This bug remains open with Status=NEEDINFO. I hope that this status is not waiting on action(gs) by me. Updating status: same regressed "black screen" continues to present in kernels 2.6.38-rc5 (all) and 2.6.38-rc6 (all). Kernel 2.6.38-rc2 continues to boot cleanly (without the "black screen). I am concerned with bug # 29278 (https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29278), as remarks therein suggest that this problem may not be resolved until kernel 2.6.39. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
